I was thinking of going back to that post and just inserting my own pictures, but I wanted to add comments if I had any now that I've had a chance to use these products. So, I decided to just make a whole new post. If I do edit posts significantly (meaning new information is added instead of just fixing grammar mistakes), I'll make a point of showing that it was edited like I did in the new Color Tattoo post. So here's my pics:
I bought Honey Suckle because I thought it looked like Beige and I know that Beige has been discontinued. I didn't realize how similar they were until I did this swatch and took the picture. It doesn't show in the picture, but Honey Suckle is just the slightest bit pinker. It's very subtle. I wish I had bought Beige sooner because the one I found must be very old. The texture is kind of dry and it doesn't blend all that well. Oh well, I have it as a reference for a dupe (even though that would mean looking for a dupe of a dupe, hehe).
These are the HiP pigments I picked up at Big Lots. None of the photos I took were able to give the pigments justice. Tenacious is definitely a shimmer finish while Unashamed falls in between a shimmer and satin finish. Both are beautiful.
This is such a beautiful duo! I must say that L'Oréal really is quite a deal when it comes to their eyeshadows. They are so high quality for being in the drugstore. I can't really say the same for their foundations, although I've only tried the True Match line in the little bottles (the original stuff), and that stuff would go on the right color, but then it would set and look paler. I didn't like that at all. Granted, that was about five years ago, so maybe they've changed the formula. Since I've found other stuff I'm quite happy with, I don't really care to try them any time soon.
Anyway, back to this duo. It's very interesting. Applied with a lighter hand, the colors can look like a taupe and a gray, while building them up to true intensity they can look quite purple and teal.
And finally, Butternut. I was blown away with how much product came up with just a light touch. These guys are quite pigmented. The two lightest shades are the most pigmented and beware: they contain glitter! They're like a satin finish with glitter while the right shades are just satin. I was a little disappointed with the third swatch from the left because I didn't feel like it was that weak when I used it on my eyes. Granted, I use a primer on my eyes and the only thing I was swatches these on was clean skin--no foundation, primer, or concealer.
That's all for this post. I hope your New Year's Eve was happy and safe and that 2013 is a great year.
